Reviewing your games is the highest-value habit in AoE2, and the biggest chore. AoEII Assistant plays back recent ranked matches right in the browser: terrain in 3D relief, build orders appearing on the map as they happened, and every player's economy laid bare.
It works with matches from either ladder — console and PC — pulled straight from the official replay service. Every account gets its first replay free; Premium unlocks unlimited viewing and the deep analysis layer.

Watching is half of it. After a game, the recap analyses your replay against benchmarks measured from players at your rating — not pro standards you can't use — and ranks findings by how much they cost you:
Every replay contains twenty mistakes. Nineteen don't matter. Ranking findings by measured cost keeps you fixing the one that does — which is how review sessions turn into rating.
Replays on the official service expire after roughly 90 days, and your memory of the game expires in about ten minutes. The habit that works: after a loss, open the recap, read the top finding, watch just that segment in the viewer. Five minutes, one lesson, done.
You can open a replay from any player's profile — including the rival you keep meeting. Watch their winning games on your worst map and steal what works. Their replays are the most honest scouting report there is.
Fights are loud but timings are causal. Scrub to 8:00 and check both Feudal clicks; scrub to 16:00 and compare Castle times and villager counts. Most games at most ratings are decided there, long before the fight that "lost" it.
