Introducing AoEII Assistant

A companion app for Age of Empires II that measures the meta instead of guessing it — live on the web today, with iOS and Android on the way.

Twenty-five years in, Age of Empires II has more players, more civilizations, and more balance patches than ever — and the tools around it haven't kept up. Tier lists argue in comment sections. Build order guides describe a meta from three patches ago. And if you play on console, almost nothing tracks your ladder at all.

AoEII Assistant is our answer: a companion app built on one stubborn principle — no made-up numbers. Every win rate, timing benchmark, and meta claim in the app is measured from real ranked matches and parsed replays, sampled across the whole ladder, split by rating bracket, map type, and input device. When the sample is too small to trust, we show nothing rather than noise.

What's live today

Console players are first-class here

Almost every AoE2 stats site ignores the console ladder. We track it separately — separate win rates, separate build-order meta, separate benchmarks — because a ladder with different effective APM is a genuinely different meta, and pooling them lies to both audiences. Set your input mode once and the whole app speaks your ladder.

What's next

The iOS and Android apps are in final preparation for the App Store and Google Play — the same account, subscription, and data sync across all three platforms. The replay corpus grows nightly, which steadily sharpens the mined build orders and rating-cohort benchmarks. And this blog is where we'll post patch-day meta analysis once each new balance update has enough measured games to say something honest.
